Many short sighted "analysts" and most media types, are discovering NOW that one of the most terrifying terrorist weapon is fear, and that a sniper poses fear on the enemy (or citizenry on this case)more than bullets... that is the power of the "sniper".
You don´t need an atomic bomb to terrorize a big city !!
A lone sniper can make an enemy Army Division, with thousands of soldiers, fear to move in the open and just by the same rationale, a MAD MAN with a rifle "pretending he is a sniper" can do the same with civilians.
This guy is:
1.- Just a mad guy that knows how to shoot, BUT nothing close to being a true marksman as his shots are not perfect, nor of complicated execution. He is just a "crazy hunter" making profit of the weaknesses of his prey. The police will catch him soon....
2.- Or he is a proficient sniper (trained as so), not showing his true capabilities and therefore not profiling his personality. If he made REALLY difficult shots and used a real sniper rifle ( a scoped .308 cal. rifle) the list of suspects would be much smaller..... and his risk much bigger....HE will not be caught easily.

A VERY IMPORTANT POINT:
He is not a sniper, he is just a Mad man with a rifle.
Would the media call a guy that killed his victims with a hijack, an athlete? I´m sure they won´t. Why, because it would not been fair to the rest of the athletes ?
And then they call this SOB a sniper, and don´t mind being UN
fair to the professional snipers, those who will save their sons or wife´s lives in the next hijack/hostage situation !!!!!
We do one of the hardest efforts for our society, WE TAKE LIVES to save other lives, NOT that we are in risk of taking one life BUT that we have to live with the fact, that each time we release the trigger we are taking ONE LIFE.
And we have to do that for freedom and to protect the innocent !! WE DO NOT DESERVE that the same society uses so lightly the word SNIPER to name a KILLER
We have earned this RESPECT and we want it !!!
Call this guy what he is, a KILLER WITH A RIFLE !!!!!!!! Nothing more ( because he is not more than that) and nothing less.
AND SOME FACTS FOR THE MEDIA :
1. 223 or (5,56x47)is NOT a high power caliber, it is a VERY marginal military caliber used on semiautomatic weapons to obtain high rate of fire NOT sniper precision or ballistics. That´s why the NATO uses it.
2.- .223 AR15 rifles are not free sale in many states under the assault weapon ban law.
3.- This guy is just a MAD MAN with a rifle NOT a SNIPER. Using the word "sniper" lightly you are being unfair to the professionals that might save you son´s life on the next hostage situation.
4.- His shots could have been made by any knowledgeable hunter don´t criminalize ex- military or police snipers for what any hunter could have done.
